For many years I have enjoyed meals and social experiences at The Plantation House Restaurant in Kapalua, Maui, HI. The food, service, and ambiance are incredible. What people don't know is this is also a FANTASTIC spot for events, meetings, and celebrations (yep, including weddings). The view is just spectacular. Last night the Maui Wedding Association held a seminar in the Grille Room, which is a perfect, intimate space for events and meetings. Our evening began with sunset pupus (I loved the calamari, humus platter, and eggrolls) and cocktails (the pina colada is amazing!) overlooking the golf course and ocean. After taking in the breathtaking views, it was meeting time. There is a separate bar in the Grille Room, so we never needed to interact with the restaurant. The Plantation House is a beautiful spot for a romantic breakfast, lunch or dinner. Be sure to consider this spot for your special occasion. 'http://www.theplantationhouse.com/

The O'O Farm http://www.oofarm.com

One of my most favorite activities to recommend on Maui is the O'O Farm. http://www.oofarm.com "A truly unique island experience begins at O’o Farm in Upcountry Maui. (An) 8.5 acre diversified natural farm is owned and operated by the Pacific’O and I’O restaurants at 505 Front Street in Lahaina. Up at the farm, (the) lunch tours showcase the beginning of a full farm-to-table culinary journey." This is a self-sustaining farm for the two restaurants and luau. The farm does not even accept mulch from anyone; it creates all of its own products. The experience begins with a tour of the farm and how it operates. This is one of the unique fruits that are grown there.

During this time you actually get to pick vegetables that will be used to prepare the second part of your experience, which is a gourmet lunch prepared by the restaurants fantastic chef! "Gourmet lunch tours are $50 per person and run every Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Farm tours are available every Wednesday and Thursdays 10:30 to 1:00. Pastries are served before a gathering tour and discussion of O'o Farm's ecologically sound natural and biodynamic practices. Return to the picnic grounds for lunch, live strings and revelry. Private and customized tours are available, please inquire" Kama'aina, be sure to request your kama'aina rate. Special advice...bring your own wine and they'll cork it for you!

I personally enjoyed this tour with my mom, as I took her here for her birthday. It was a great experience, even for me, a yellow thumb. I found the information fascinating, and the lunch experience is still a special memory for us both. We met some great people who live on Maui and who were visiting the island. We highly recommend this experience. Since you are up here, you may want to see the Kula Lavender Farm www.lavenderfarm.com after your lunch. It is just up the road from the O'o Farm.
